  36. Known Bugs
  37. ----------

  39. The following problems are known bugs now, they will be fixed on next release.
  40. Any bug/problem report is very welcome.

  42. >> The following bugs are found in both Windows 3.0 and Windows 3.1:
  43.     * None.
  44.  
  45. >> The following bugs are Windows 3.0 related. They are NOT duplicatable
  46.    in Windows 3.1. Microsoft have fixed these bugs in Windows 3.1:
  47.     * Paintbrush:    UAE error when use View/Zoom-In.
  48.     * WinHelp:        Icon color not right.
  49.     * Fish!:        Fishes face to wrong direction sometimes.

  52. Installation
  53. ------------
  54.  
  55. 1. First install MS Windows 3.x using the standard IBM VGA driver.
  56.  
  57. 2. Make sure Windows 3.x is working properly.
  58.  
  59. 3. Change to Windows 3.x directory (e.g. c:\windows), run SETUP.EXE.
  60.  
  61. 4. Insert enclosed disk, change display driver to "Other...".
  62.  
  63. 5. Enter the path of TRIDENT driver (e.g. A:\ ).
  64.  
  65. 6. Select a suitable TRIDENT driver.
  66.  
  67. 7. Follow instructions to finish SETUP.
  68.

  71. IMPORTANT NOTE
  72. ==============
  73.  
  74. For Windows 3.1
  75. ---------------
  76. If you have previously installed any Windows 3.x Trident drivers, you need to
  77. delete OEM?.INF(eg. OEM0.INF) in Windows SYSTEM directory before you use
  78. SETUP to install the new driver.
  79.  
  80. For Windows 3.0
  81. ---------------
  82. If you have installed previous version of the Windows 3.0 Trident drivers,
  83. you will have to delete the old Trident driver files BEFORE you use
  84. SETUP to install the new drivers, otherwise SETUP will NOT copy the new
  85. driver files to your Windows 3.0 directory.
  86. The files which you should delete are in Windows 3.0 SYSTEM sub-directory
  87. (e.g. c:\windows\system\ ), they might be:
  88.     W800.DRV, W1024.DRV, W1024F.DRV,
  89.     T640.DRV, T800.DRV, T1024.DRV, T1024F.DRV
  90.     HI640.DRV, HI64K.DRV
  91.     VDDTVGA.386
  92.     TVGA.GR3
  93.  
  94.  
  95. NOTE for network installation
  96. =============================
  97.  
  98. If you try to install Windows through a network, i.e. SETUP/N,
  99. it will not copy any file from the Trident Driver disk to the network
  100. Windows directory and local Windows directory. The reason why it
  101. happen is: the files in Trident Driver Disk are compressed by
  102. MicroSoft COMPRESS, just like the files in Windows disks #1 to #5.
  103. The normal SETUP can automatically expand the compressed driver
  104. files, while the SETUP/N do not expand the compressed files.
  105.  
  106. Here is the solution:
  107. 1.  Expand the five Windows 3.0 disks to your network Windows
  108.     directory, as per Windows manual, "Putting Windows on a Network",
  109.     pp. 553-554.
  110.  
  111. 2.  Please use the same method to expand Trident Window driver
  112.     disk to the same network Windows directory.
  113.     Note: Please note that the Trident Driver files are compressed
  114.       using the MS COMPRESS. So users should use EXPAND to
  115.       decompress them before running SETUP/N.
  116.  
  117. 3.  After this, SETUP/N to install windows as described in Windows manual,
  118.     "Getting Windows from a Network", p.545. Select "Other" as Trident
  119.     Video Driver.
  120.  
  121.
